UBQ Materials
Climate-positive thermoplastic
UBQ™ is a plastic substitute made from unrecyclable household waste, including all organics: banana peels, chicken bones and pizza boxes, together with baby diapers and mixed plastics. It is the most climate-positive thermoplastic on the planet, replacing oil-based resins in the production of thousands of durable products across industries.
By using UBQ, manufacturers are diverting waste from landfills, reducing their carbon footprint, and supporting a circular economy.
Achievements to date
Where there are people, there is waste. With so many of us, the amount of waste generated has reached 2 billion tons a year and continues to grow at an alarming rate. What if there was a way to put all this waste to good use? This is exactly the question that sparked the foundation of UBQ Materials.
In 2021, ProDelta became landlord to UBQ’s facility in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands, and PI Impact made its first investment in UBQ.
Founded in 2012, Israel-based UBQ Materials envisions a world where finite resources are infinitely reused.
UBQ Materials expands to the Netherlands, where it rents it’s location in Bergen op Zoom from ProDelta.
End 2023, the first production line was running and in 2024 more lines will be commissioned, with a planned annual production of 80,000 tons UBQ material.
Patented waste conversion process
A certified B Corp, UBQ Materials is expanding globally to provide the world’s largest businesses and consumers with a climate positive solution for a circular economy.
Leading industry brands have already integrated UBQ into durable and semi-durable products such as car parts, footwear, pallets, display stands, panels, planters, with customers including Mercedes-Benz, PepsiCo, and McDonald’s.
